Aaron Rodgers Won't Criticize His O-Line While Beneath This Pile of Defenders

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Despite being sacked a league high 20 times and taking plenty of other hits, Aaron Rodgers is refusing to criticize his offensive line. At least until he can remove himself from this huge pile of defensive players.

Study Finds Shocking Link Between Forceful Blows to Head, Concussions

Thursday, October 1, 2009

On the heels of the study indicating that NFL players are more likely to suffer from dementia, or other memory-related impairments than the average population, another study has shown a shocking link between repeated forceful blows to the head and concussions.

"Who knew?" said a representative of the NFL. "I mean, it's crazy that there is a link between grown men running into each other at full speed and the incidence of head injury. I suppose their next theory to test out is that your hand is susceptible to fracture if you punch a brick wall...OWWWW! I think I just broke my hand!!"

Baseball Players Using Steroids Again Just to Get Noticed

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

With the start of the NFL season, little attention has been paid to Major League Baseball in the last couple of weeks. To combat that, MLB players have begun using steroids once again, just to get noticed.

"I don't like it, but we need to promote our league in any way," said a spokesman for the commissioner's office. "But steroids got us into a huge mess, and people never seem to let it go. I mean, they keep brining up 2003 for crying out loud. With the NFL and even college football taking over, we had to do something."

The players feel the same way.

"It's not good that we have to do this to get noticed, but if we have to, we have to," said a players union rep. "Attention is good, and it will bring fans to the games, and viewers to the TV. Plus, we can always defend it by saying we were taking B-12 shots, we didn't really know what it was, or that our cousin from the Dominican Republic recommended it."

Reality Television Star to Try His Hand at Football

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

Reality television star Terrell Owens, known to friends as T.O., wants to take a shot at playing in the NFL. His creatively titled show, The T.O. Show, on VH1 is coming to an end, and he is looking for something to do.

"Look at me, I'm in pretty good shape," said Owens "so I think I can handle playing wide receiver. I've been working hard at complaining about not getting the ball enough, so I'll at least fit in with current NFL receivers."

Owens has signed a one year deal with the Buffalo Bills.

"We shopped around, but didn't get much interest. I guess teams don't want a prima donna, uh...I mean a reality star without football experience playing for them. But I am happy to play for the Buffalo Bills. And I see we have a home game in Canada. Maybe I can expand to that market and try hockey next year. Or maybe curling."

NFL Fears 2010 Will Be Played Without Salary Cap, With Loaded Firearms

Due to slow labor negotiations, the NFL fears that 2010 may be played without a salary cap. But sadly, no salary cap also means no gun control rules, resulting in games being played with loaded firearms. Most players are not looking forward to that scenario.

"It's dangerous enough out there. Maybe Carson Palmer was right. I know we make a lot of money, but I don't think I could line-up across from a guy if I knew he was packing heat."

Obviously, the league agrees.

"This isn't good," said a league spokesman. "We put that clause in the last collective bargaining agreement, hoping it would scare us into signing a new one. Apparently, that might not work out. Loaded firearms on the field would not be good for the image of the league. We have enough issues the way it is."

A disturbing trend is making its way across NFL training camps this pre-season. The so-called "high character" players are being cut to make room for players that have talent.

"I really hate to cut these guys, but we've got to win football games," said a member of the Bills coaching staff. "They're nice people, but we're not trying to win a congeniality contest. I can't keep a WR on my roster just because he's a good guy when he runs a 5.1 40."

Buffalo is not the only club that feels this way.

Says a member of the Houston front office, "Sometimes coaching staffs need to make tough decisions, we just need to support them. I don't care what our character is as long as we make the playoffs."

Vikings Athletic Trainer Sent to Mississippi to Help Favre Move Some Furniture

Saturday, July 11, 2009

One of the Vikings athletic trainers, Eric Sugarman, has made yet another trip to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to help Brett Favre. But this time he wasn't evaluating his shoulder. Sugarman was sent to help Favre move some furniture.

"Some of this stuff is a little too heavy for Deanna to carry," said Favre about his wife, "so it's nice that Eric is available to come down to Mississippi. I'm sure he's glad to help out."

"Glad to help out? This is ridiculous!" said a frustrated Sugarman, "Believe it or not, we actually have players under contract that need injuries assessed, treated and rehabilitated." Future trips to Mississippi for the Viking athletic trainer will most likely include mowing Favre's lawn, landscaping his backyard, staining his deck and fixing his old pick-up truck.

Chad Ochocinco has been in the news lately regarding his use of Twitter and the potential fines he will face, should he tweet on the sideline during a game. But Ochocinco doesn't care about the fines. He hasn't in the past. He says he's going to do what he's got to do to 'get his words out to the masses.'

"Go ahead and fine me. I'll tweet as much as I want about the 41 or so catches and 3 touchdowns I'm gonna have this year. I've got to. It's the only way I'll stay relevant. My play on the field don't cut it anymore. If Twitter don't work, I'll get on Facebook, or MySpace. I'll start 3 blogs if I have to. I gotta keep eight-five in the news!"

Ochocinco also told us that he anticipates his release, and looks forward to playing out his football career in the upstart United Football League or maybe even the Arena League beginning next season in 2010.
