Buster Olney Declares NFL Trade Deadline Completely Boring

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Predictably, the NFL Trade Deadline did not produce much player movement. A few small trades have taken place, including the Eagles acquiring Will Weatherspoon from the Rams for Brandon Gibson and a draft pick. ESPN baseball analyst Buster Olney, among others, described this year's trades, or lack of, as completely boring.

"What's the point of a trade deadline if no one is going to trade for any players for that late season run?" asked Olney. "I mean, trade some low level prospects for an all pro receiver or something. Like Terrell Owens for example. Don't just sit back and do nothing. This NFL stuff is completely boring. I'm just glad that I cover baseball and its 5 hour playoff games with countless pitching changes that end at 2am. Now that's exciting."
