Despite an apparent mismatch, the Tennessee-Florida matchup was highly publicized due to the verbal feud between head coaches Lane Kiffin and Urban Meyer. Today, following the Gators 23-13 victory on Saturday, Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin has added some more fuel to the fire, criticizing #1 Florida for barely beating a clearly inferior Tennessee team.
"They only beat us by 10?" asked Kiffin. "Did they see us play UCLA, at home? I don't think this was the #1 team in the country. I mean, they barely beat a team coached by me. And we all saw what I was able to do with the Raiders."
