Jets Acquire WR Who Can't Catch, Will Pursue RB That Can't Run

The New York Jets acquired receiver Braylon Edwards from the Cleveland Browns yesterday for WR Chansi Stuckey, LB Jason Trusnik and a couple of draft picks. The Jets are obviously hoping Edwards will improve their passing game, despite his history of dropping passes. The Jets have also said that they will go after a RB that cannot run in order to improve their ground game.

Jets on Talking to Crabtree's Agent: "We Never Spoke, We Only Sent a Giant Bag of Money"

The Michael Crabtree saga in San Francisco just keeps getting better and better. Now the 49ers are accusing the Jets of tampering, claiming they spoke with Crabtree's agent. The Jets claim that they never spoke with Crabtree's agent, but admitted that they did send him a giant bag filled with money.

"It's just a coincidence that we need a big play receiver and he is kind of still on the market," said a representative of the Jets. "We simply sent his agent a big bag of money as a good faith gesture. It has nothing to do with us wanting Crabtree to play for us."

The NFL is looking into the matter. Right now the league is not commenting, but sources say investigators are waiting for another anonymous bag of cash to arrive at league offices.

Jets Failed to List Mark Gastineau on Injury Reports in 2008

Amid allegations that the Jets failed to list Brett Favre on injury reports during the 2008 season, it has come to light that the team also failed to include defensive end Mark Gastineau on the same reports.

"It was my fault," said a member of the general manager's office. "There was a paperwork glitch that was an oversight on my part. As a result, Mark Gastineau was never taken off the Jets roster. Because he wasn't listed as active, we were required by NFL rules to list him on the injury report. Looking back, he should have been listed as doubtful. Really, really doubtful."
