Notre Dame Ranked #1 in Latest Northern Indiana Football Poll

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have officially returned to glory. Propelled by last night's come from behind 24-21 victory over Purdue, the Irish have once again regained the top ranking. In the Northern Indiana Football Poll.

"It's great that we have returned to prominence in northern Indiana," said head coach Charlie Weis. "Hopefully with some hard work, we can be ranked number one in all of Indiana, and not just in the northern part. Maybe one day, we can be talked about in the national college football discussion too. Because we are good and can beat good teams. Not just because we are Notre Dame and we were good in the 70s and 80s. And Lou Holtz 'unbiased' opinions don't count either."

Charlie Weis Hoped for ACTUAL Cupcakes on Fighting Irish Schedule

Much has been made recently about the easy schedule Notre Dame has for the 2009 season. Some may call several of their opponents cupcakes. Head coach Charlie Weis is disappointed that no actual cupcakes are on the schedule.

"I'd love to have a bye week where all we do is sit down and eat cupcakes," said Weis. "Cream puffs would have worked OK too. A cupcake or cream puff schedule for 2010 or 2011 would be fine with me."

Assistants later explained to Weis that a cupcake schedule simply means easy opponents, not a set time to eat cupcakes. Weis was quite emotional for the next 20-25 minutes.
